Be Seen – Inspiration and Motivation

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

Imagine that you drive a twisty, hilly country road on a regular basis. Many times, you see an old guy walking his dog. There’s no sidewalk, but he stays a little off the two-lane road, in the grass, between the road and the trees.

He waves to you, a big smile on his face.

The first few times you see him, you think that maybe you know each other, and you even wave back. After a while, you realize that he waves like that at everybody.

Just a friendly old guy, you guess. And he brightens your day.

But then you realize that there’s more to his wave than friendliness.

He’s making sure you see him. On this twisty, hilly, two-lane road, he’s making sure that no cars hit him or his dog.

Not with a bright green vest. Not with an unfriendly glare. With a big smile and a wave.

How does this old man relate to your life?

Are you someone who needs to be better seen? Perhaps in a relationship? Or in your career?

Is there a positive way you can draw attention to yourself? A way to both be recognized for who you are and what you do AND make someone feel better?

Or is there someone in your life that needs you to see them better, but maybe they don’t know how to “smile and wave” the right way? Are you overlooking someone?

If something comes to your mind when you read these questions, ask yourself why. Maybe there’s something there you want to follow up on.

Either way…

Have a fun day!
