St. Petersburg Balloon Artist Monkeys Around at Birthday Parties, Special Events

Sunday, September 30th, 2012

“Thank you!!!! For an amazing party today! The kids as always loved you!!!”
-Nicole Santana

I (Tony the Balloon Guy) just found this picture of me that someone had put online. It made me laugh.

Yes, I’m talking monkey-talk to the balloon monkey.

:-)

By the way, more than a thousand families like yours have invited our family business to celebrate birthdays with them. We are also a favorite at school, church, company and corporate events, including fairs, festivals, holiday parties and grand openings.

What can we do for YOU? At special events throughout the Tampa Bay area and Central Florida, we provide:

Please click on the activities above for information and pictures. Then pick one, or mix and match to create a package and SAVE MONEY!

So how do people get entertainment for parties and special events?

  • You can pay an agent, party/event planner, total entertainment company, or other middleman a commission on each entertainer they hire for you. Even if they refer to “our face painters” or “our balloon artists,” they are charging you to hire someone. Sometimes even the person answering the phone is getting a cut, and only being paid if you book the party or event! Of course, in this modern Internet Age, you could hire entertainers yourself and NOT pay commissions. Wouldn’t it be funny if a middleman hired US for you, when you could have booked us yourself without paying a commission? It happens!!!
  • You can spend time hiring entertainers yourself. By cutting out the middleman, you save the commissions. But you still pay full price for each entertainer if you’re hiring more than one, such as a balloon artist AND a face painter.
  • We can provide your event entertainment, and give you a DISCOUNT for combining entertainers. You save money because WE’RE the professional entertainers. And you can read our testimonials and/or see us in action at one of our weekly open-to-the-public appearances (click here for days, times and locations) to check out the quality of our entertainment!

Be sure to get our quote before you book entertainment for your event! Have a fun day!

Balloon Artist and Face Painter for Charity and Community Events in Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Orlando, Spring Hill, Brooksville, Lutz, Land O Lakes, New Port Richey, Tarpon Springs, Wesley Chapel, Etc.

Sunday, September 30th, 2012

“Thank you!!!! For an amazing party today! The kids as always loved you!!!”
-Nicole Santana

We (Tony the Balloon Guy and Face Painter Phyllis) do balloon entertainment, face painting, etc., at a lot of community events and for a lot of charitable organizations.

Not as much as we do birthday parties, but still a lot.

Yesterday, for example, we did four hours of balloons and face painting for a community Family Fun Fest in Spring Hill, Fla. The turnout was great – we were going nonstop the whole time.

From there, Face Painter Phyllis and the junior partners in our family business went to do balloons and face painting at a company picnic we had done annually twice before, while I went to Tampa to make balloons for an Epilepsy Services Foundation event, which was a lot of fun!

Catholic Charities, Relay for Life, Crohn’s and Colitis… TONS of charities have hired us to provide the kind of fun that an event like that needs to succeed.

Sometimes the organization has built entertainment into the budget, because they know people don’t show up if there’s not something fun for folks (especially kids!) to do.

Other times, an individual will hire us as their way of supporting their cause, as someone did for a Relay for Life event.

And sometimes a company will sponsor us to be at an event. For example, at the Family Fun Fest yesterday, we were sponsored by WellCare.

A few weeks back, I did balloons at a very small fundraiser in Hernando County. There was no budget for entertainment, but Suncoast Braces hired me to come stand at their table and entertain the kids.

Sometimes in situations like that, we’ll work near a sign saying the name of the  company that sponsored us. In this case, I wore a Suncoast Braces T-Shirt and made balloons while Suncoast Braces gave away toothbrushes.

That’s me to the left of the slide, standing next to the dentist who hired me, and some of the lovely ladies from his office.

If we wanted to, Face Painter Phyllis and I could spend most of our working hours at events that are looking for FREE entertainment, but it’s hard to feed the kids and animals and keep the lights on that way. Plus, it wouldn’t be very fair to the organizations that find a way to hire us for what they know is a very valuable aspect of their events!

We are grateful to those organizations for that appreciation, and we always have a great time doing our best to help them create the fun, festive atmosphere that they need in order to achieve their event goals.

A 21-Year Low for Tampa Balloon Artist

Friday, September 28th, 2012

“Thank you!!!! For an amazing party today! The kids as always loved you!!!”
-Nicole Santana

In August, I believe, of 1991, I (Tony the Balloon Guy) took a bus from Sarasota, Florida, to Fresno, California, for $69! Round-trip, as I remember. But maybe it was each way.

Anyhoo, from the airport in Fresno (most people had flown there, but – hey – only $69 to ride the bus!), the Outward Bound school took a bunch of us to the Sierra Madre Mountains for a week and taught us to climb mountains. So cool!

On the bus ride home, I stopped at the LA airport and, as I had planned, flew to Honolulu, where I spent three days at a youth hostel about two blocks from Waikiki Beach, and then I flew on to Sydney, Australia.

In Australia, I used another bus pass (it’s called Greyhound there, too, but I don’t know if they’re related) to go up the coast, over to the Outback, and back to Sydney. I bungee-jumped off a 150-foot tower, tent-camped in the desert, climbed Ayers Rock, blah blah blah.

Then back to Hawaii, where I got a permit to tent-camp on the ocean (free!) for a week. I got a bus pass for Oahu, too, and saw some pretty sights!

Then back to Los Angeles, where I spent a few days at a youth hostel near the beach in Santa Monica.

I continued my bus ride home down to San Diego, where I stopped a night at another near-the-beach youth hostel before taking yet another bus from Tijuana to Mexico City (about two days straight – very interesting trip!).

I spent about a week in a $6-a-night hotel room across from a KFC in downtown Mexico City and saw the sights, climbed some pyramids, etc.

pyramids

Then back up to California.

There, I got word that a family member had suffered a bad health crisis, and I stayed on the bus straight back to Florida. (She turned out to be OK, but it was a scary time!)

What has me thinking about all this?

As I was preparing to go rock climbing, there were not even hills to practice hiking up (Sarasota is very flat), but I was doing a lot of walking to try to get ready, and checking my weight all the time. At six feet tall, I was a little on the heavy side for such athletic activity, but not too bad: 210 lbs.

Today, for the first time since then – which was 21 years ago, I weigh 209 lbs. Somehow in that 21 years, my weight had gotten as high as 280 (that I know of – for a while there I didn’t want to look!!!)

So 209 is a very happy number for me to see today.

Yay!!!

:-)

Some of us have to learn things the hard way, but you’re welcome to learn from my experience and avoid all the suffering!!!

Tampa Balloon Artist Does Stupid Human Trick on David Letterman’s Late Show!

Thursday, September 27th, 2012

“Thank you!!!! For an amazing party today! The kids as always loved you!!!”
-Nicole Santana

I (Tony the Balloon Guy) just heard that another local balloon twister was on Letterman recently, making a balloon animal in somebody’s nose.

Most of us folks who work with kids don’t show how to put balloons in our noses, but I guess there aren’t THAT many kids watching Letterman.

I mean, it’s not like it would show up on Youtube 24 hours a day, right?

This is the same Stupid Human Trickster who copies some of the blog entries I write to promote my party business, changes a few words, and posts them on HIS blog to promote HIS party business. You know how Jay Leno will do a monologue, and then a few days later, David Letterman does the same exact monologue? It’s like that.

Oh wait, that never happens. Because David Letterman isn’t a terrible person!!!

No one ever called it SMART Human Tricks!

Lighter Moments With Dementia and Alzheimer’s – Balloon Animals and Face Painting

Monday, September 24th, 2012

“Thank you!!!! For an amazing party today! The kids as always loved you!!!”

All the patients at a recent Saturday-morning job had some kind of dementia, which had its sad parts, of course.

But there were also sweet, kinda funny moments, like when I (Tony the Balloon Guy) gave a lady a frog I made of balloons, and she asked, “Oh… did I leave this somewhere?”

Florida Psychic Entertainer Predicts Presidential Winner!!!

Monday, September 24th, 2012

“Thank you!!!! For an amazing party today! The kids as always loved you!!!”
-Nicole Santana

I don’t know if you saw or if you remember, but earlier this year, in my role as a professional fortune teller – literally: people pay me to look at palms, Tarot cards, etc., and give short, upbeat readings at parties – I successfully predicted the outcome of the Super Bowl.

Probably I should just stop there instead of risking my credibility, but I’m going to take a chance and hereby announce who will win the US presidential election this year!

flag

I know, I know, simmer down.

OK, I’m relaxing and going into some kind of trance right now (you don’t know – it could be true!).

I’m starting to see something.

I see…

A man!

Yes, the winner will definitely be male.

Not just male, though. A RICH male. We’re talking millionaire rich.

A father, too. And married. Married to a woman that people like maybe even more than they like him.

The winner’s early political experience came not where he was born, but in another state, a state where the Democrat Party is very strong.

I see him as someone who has already held executive office… perhaps he’s been president before, or the governor of a state. Yes, definitely one of those.

And in that job, he oversaw some large reform of… I want to say… health care.

Although he has to be an American or he couldn’t be elected president, it looks like one of his parents – yes, his father – was not born in this country, but in… I don’t know… Kenya? Mexico? It’s hard to see.

There’s also an issue with the winning candidate’s religion. Something with the letter “M,” like he’s a Mormon, or maybe some people think he’s a Muslim.

Anyway, it doesn’t look like it will be all rainbows and unicorns for the victor – I see he’ll have a lot of issues to deal with, both foreign and domestic, and the opposition party will do whatever they can to block his efforts.

OK, I’m coming out of it now. Feeling relaxed. Maybe a little silly.

The election is Tuesday, November 6, 2012. We should know by the 7th how accurate this reading was!

I know I’m going out on a limb, but please tell as many people as you can about this post. I either want to be big-time right and everybody knows it, or spectacularly wrong with the whole world watching!!!

Remember back before this whole contract dispute, when the NFL had refs we only agreed with and held in respectful high esteem?

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Sorry, I thought I could do it with a straight face.

So how do people get entertainment for parties and special events?

  • You can pay an agent, party/event planner, total entertainment company, or other middleman a commission on each entertainer they hire for you. Even if they refer to “our face painters” or “our balloon artists,” they are charging you to hire someone. Fortune Teller Reads Tarot Cards, Palms, More, at Parties in Tampa, Orlando, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Brooksville, Spring Hill, Sarasota, Bradenton, Lutz, Wesley Chapel, New Port Richey, and Beyond!

Sunday, September 23rd, 2012

“Thank you!!!! For an amazing party today! The kids as always loved you!!!”
-Nicole Santana

Our family business provides entertainment and activities for parties and other events, and, although balloons and face painting are fun for all ages (the oldest birthday kids we’ve ever done a party for were both turning 90!), a lot of our business is geared toward families and family-oriented events.

But we do offer something specifically for the grown-ups.

Fortune telling!

Fortune telling at a party?

You bet!

People love to hear about themselves!

And the kinds of readings we offer – palm readings, Tarot card readings, numerology/astrology readings, etc. – are amazingly accurate: the Ancients put a lot of thought into these systems to make them work! And the systems wouldn’t have lasted all these centuries if they DIDN’T work!

You don’t have to believe in woo-woo spooky magic to have fun getting your palm read at a party! Even kids know that a balloon dog isn’t a REAL dog, but they have fun recognizing what about it is LIKE a dog, and they get a kick out of pretending.  Likewise, you don’t have to believe some supernatural synchronicity of the universe determined what cards are laid out on the table in order for you to appreciate what is right about what the cards say about you… and maybe for you to remember something good about yourself that you hadn’t thought of in a while!

Depending on the theme of your party – Halloween or Mardi Gras, for example – a fortune teller can be decorative, too!

I (Tony) wear a long-sleeve white or purple shirt, and a black vest, pants and shoes. At a Mardi Gras birthday party in Riverview last week, I had no objection to putting strings of beads around my neck to add to the atmosphere of the event. If someone wanted me to wear a Sinbad- or Aladdin-style turban to match a party’s theme, that would be fine, too.

Usually the host of a party provides two or three chairs and a small table (although I can bring a table if need be) for the readings, in a place that has enough light to see and is quiet enough to hear – perhaps in another room if the music is loud.

I drape a black cover, that has tiny dark-but-shiny stars in the cloth, over the table, and display such props as an hourglass with a small crystal ball on it, a bag of runes, a magic 8-ball, etc., and of course, the Tarot cards. I point out the lines in people’s hands with a very ornate letter-opener, a gift from my daughter specifically for the purpose of reading palms.

There is an open pocket watch on the table, too. It’s decorative AND it helps keep the readings moving along – about five-to-seven minutes each, to get to as many guests as possible in the time you’ve hired me for.

The readings themselves are legit – I have studied the systems, and I read what I see. “I detest fake readings,” Docc Hilford, a world-renowned psychic entertainer and magician told me after I studied with him on a visit to Tampa. I agree: why make stuff up when the cards, lines or numbers guide the reading? Just add a little intuition and a little showmanship, and you’re good to go.

My showmanship comes from years of experience as a professional family variety entertainer. Though I’m not ZANY when I’m reading – like I might be while juggling, twisting balloons or performing a magic show – I’m upbeat, friendly and positive with each of the guests.

The readings are upbeat and positive, too – never scary or disturbing. Even if it’s a Halloween party, it’s still a party, right?

Halloween parties are perfect for a fortune teller, of course, but readings are also super popular at grown-up birthday parties and other-holiday parties, especially Christmas and New Year’s, when people are both reflecting and looking forward.

Can you  see a fortune teller at a party in YOUR future?
