Long Distance

Monday, May 17th, 2010

I (Tony the Balloon Guy) recently received a shortwave radio receiver, and I love it.

Listening to broadcasts from all over the world is something I used to really enjoy when I was younger, and it’s just as interesting today.

I was already able to hear regular international programs on Sirius/XM’s World Radio Network, but there is additionally something fun about hunting through the static to find an exotic broadcast unexpectedly. Like when I made a crystal radio set as a kid in Wisconsin and immediately picked up an AM station out of Little Rock. Wow!

I’m such a radio nerd!

Have a fun day!

Battle of the Days

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Face Painter Phyllis and I (Tony the Balloon Guy) recently had a normal-seeming Sunday of entertaining children for their birthdays, and then having dinner at a restaurant.

But this day was special, and we disputed just what made it so special.

Was it more special because it was Mother’s Day? Or was it more special because it was my birthday?

The junior members of our family business wisely did not take sides, and fortunately this issue won’t come up again for another six or seven years.

Maybe it was just TWICE as special!

Have a fun day TODAY!
